Routine Pet Vaccinations

Pet vaccinations play an essential role in your pet’s overall health. They protect from all too common and potentially fatal diseases. Both dogs and cats have special needs when it comes to vaccinations, but core vaccines are recommended to all regardless of lifestyle. Core Vaccinations

Certain viruses and bacterium are considered enough of an overall threat to pet populations to be considered core. Therefore, all pets are recommended core vaccinations. Many of these diseases are still prevalent in wildlife and stray animal populations. While you might think an indoor pet is at less risk than an outdoor one, some of these diseases are airborne or could be brought into your home by a visitor or even you. Rabies, in fact, is such a considerable threat that it is core but is also required by law.

  • Dogs: Rabies and DHLPP, which covers a range of diseases such as distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvovirus, and parainfluenza.
  • Cats: Rabies, DRC, which protects against distemper, rhinotracheitis, and calicivirus, and FelVV (feline leukemia).

Canine Lifestyle Vaccines

Lifestyle vaccines are recommended for dogs who are frequently outdoors, travel with you or are boarded. Though they are specific to your dog’s lifestyle, they are no less important than core vaccines when deemed appropriate. The following are non-core dog vaccines we may recommend:

  • Bordetella, or kennel cough
  • Lyme
  • Canine Influenza
